Job Summary
The Engineering Technician supports explosive testing operations for the oil and gas industry. This role involves the safe preparation, handling, and detonation of explosives to meet specific test objectives. The technician ensures compliance with explosives safety protocols, regulations, and best practices, while also contributing to facility and equipment maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct full-scale explosive testing (not lab-based).
Safely prepare, handle, and detonate explosives, adhering to strict ATF regulations.
Maintain accurate and compliant explosives records.
Collect and document test data for analysis and reporting.
Operate forklifts, cranes, pressure systems, and other industrial equipment.
Perform metal fabrication using arc welding, cutting torch, and plasma cutter.
Assist with facility and equipment maintenance as needed.
Consistently observe and follow all safety practices, including PPE use, and promptly report hazards.
Required Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or GED.
Experience & Skills
No minimum experience required — open to candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in an industrial environment.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Familiarity with hand and pneumatic tools.
Preferred: experience in metal fabrication (welding, cutting).
Preferred: exposure to explosives handling (military background a plus, but not required — training provided).
Open to candidates from military, manufacturing, or other transferable industries.
Additional Details
Travel Requirements
Approximately 10% travel, primarily local (e.g., within Houston area).
Occasional travel to other locations (e.g., Houma, LA).
Travel opportunities are voluntary within the team.
