We are seeking a skilled Welder for a Second Shift (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM) temp-to-hire position. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality welds on large diameter pipes ranging from 22” to 38” in diameter with 2” wall thickness. Core welding skills must include open root 1/8” TIG welds, auto MIG, and Sub Arc techniques. This role requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and precision, and may include supervising or mentoring junior welders.
Perform complex welding operations using TIG, MIG, and Sub Arc methods on large diameter pipe
Read, interpret, and follow complex blueprints, specifications, and welding procedures
Plan and sequence welding operations to ensure efficiency and compliance
Monitor, control, and adjust welding parameters to maintain high-quality output
Inspect welds for accuracy, alignment, and adherence to quality standards
Act as a mentor or trainer for less experienced welders when needed
Identify and report defects or process issues; work with quality or maintenance teams to resolve
Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations
Work collaboratively with internal departments such as Production, Quality Control, Tooling, and Maintenance
Internal: Industrialization, Maintenance, Tooling, Production, Planning, Quality Control, R&D, QHSE, and other Manufacturing Units
Perform high-skill welding tasks independently
May supervise or guide a small team of welders
Ensure alignment with quality, performance, and safety objectives
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred Education: Technical Associate or Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: Minimum 2-3 years in a similar welding environment with TIG, MIG, and Sub Arc processes
Other Requirements:
Proficiency in open root 1/8” TIG welding
Experience with auto MIG and Sub Arc on thick-walled pipe
Ability to work 12-hour shifts on second shift (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM)
Strong knowledge of welding safety standards and procedures
Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints
Position will begin on day shift temporarily to complete safety training (6:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Mon–Fri)
After training, the role transitions to second shift permanently
