Job Details

Location: Port Vila, Vanuatu to Guam
Target start: 31-Oct
Day rate: USD $TBD
Contract: Short-term delivery voyage, with potential follow-on work

The opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced U.S.-credentialed Master for an international delivery voyage aboard an ex-military Landing Craft Utility (LCU) vessel from Port Vila to Guam. The Master will join as a supernumerary for the voyage, subject to applicable flag, insurance and travel requirements.

There may be an opportunity to continue with the project after delivery, supporting planned cargo operations between Saipan and Tinian. Any extension will depend on the client’s final operating plans, reflagging and required approvals.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and safely conduct the passage from Port Vila to Guam.

  • Manage navigation, bridge watches, passage planning, weather considerations and emergency readiness.

  • Familiarize yourself with the vessel and its operating systems during the voyage.

  • Coordinate with the Chief Engineer, client representatives and relevant port and marine-service providers.

  • Maintain appropriate safety, voyage and operational records.

  • If the follow-on assignment proceeds, lead vessel operations for planned container movements between Saipan and Tinian.

  • Coordinate with vessel crew, shore-based stevedores and crane teams to support safe cargo and deck operations.

Qualifications

  • Current U.S. Coast Guard Master credential appropriate to the vessel and planned duties.

  • Proven experience in command of commercial, military, landing craft, cargo or comparable vessels.

  • Strong passage-planning, navigation, bridge resource management and crew leadership skills.

  • Experience with international voyages and emergency response.

  • Ability to meet applicable requirements for travel and supernumerary service aboard a Vanuatu-flagged vessel.

  • Valid passport and availability to mobilize on short notice.

Landing craft or ex-military vessel experience is an advantage. Vessel-specific requirements, travel arrangements and any follow-on schedule will be confirmed during screening.
