Job Details

Talent Lead
Location: Aberdeen, Scotland
Contract Type: Temp to Perm

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Talent Lead to join the team in Aberdeen on a temp-to-perm basis. This is a high-impact, standalone role focused on shaping and delivering the organisation’s talent, learning and leadership agenda across the UK, with scope to expand into global leadership initiatives over time.
This is not a recruitment role. Instead, we are looking for a strategic talent professional who can take ownership of leadership development, capability frameworks, technical training governance, and workforce development programmes across a complex engineering environment.
The successful candidate will partner closely with senior stakeholders, particularly Drew and the wider leadership team, to drive a modern and effective talent strategy aligned to business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and own the UK talent and development agenda as the dedicated subject matter expert.
  • Manage and enhance the company Training Matrix, ensuring compliance, capability visibility, and workforce readiness.
  • Design, implement and continuously improve Leadership Development Programmes for emerging and established leaders.
  • Oversee and coordinate Offshore Training requirements, ensuring alignment with operational standards and industry regulations.
  • Manage engagement with ECITB frameworks, standards, funding opportunities, and development programmes.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify succession planning, capability gaps, and talent pipeline needs.
  • Develop learning pathways that support both technical and leadership capability.
  • Provide strategic input into future global leadership programme rollout.
  • Use data and insights to measure programme effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Build strong relationships across HR, operations, and senior leadership teams.

Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience in Talent Management, Learning & Development, Organisational Development, or Leadership Development roles.
  • Background within engineering, energy, industrial, construction, manufacturing, or similarly regulated environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of competency frameworks, training matrices, and workforce capability planning.
  • Experience managing leadership programmes and developing management capability.
  • Understanding of offshore training environments and/or industry certification frameworks highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with ECITB standards or similar industry bodies would be advantageous.
  • Confident operating in a standalone lead role with autonomy and ownership.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on delivery capability.

Why Join?
  • Opportunity to shape and lead the talent agenda within a recognised engineering environment.
  • High-visibility standalone role with direct access to senior leadership.
  • Temp-to-perm route offering long-term career progression.
  • Potential involvement in future global leadership initiatives.
