Senior Cost Accountant – Manufacturing (Costing System Implementation Lead)

Location: Hybrid – 2 Remote Flex Days (Any day except Monday & Friday)
Schedule: Day Shift | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Employment Type: Direct Hire
Bonus: 10% ICP
Travel: Occasional domestic travel to manufacturing facilities (expenses covered)

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this role will lead the implementation and management of a formalized costing system across multiple manufacturing facilities, with primary focus on coating operations.

This is a highly visible role responsible for driving cost transparency, improving margin visibility, and partnering with Plant leadership to enhance operational financial performance.

The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing cost accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and proven experience leading projects from concept through full implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Costing System Implementation & Leadership

• Lead implementation of Cost Configurator module within JDE ERP

• Drive adoption and training across Tuboscope facilities

• Manage full lifecycle of costing system project from planning to execution

• Ensure ongoing maintenance and optimization of costing standards

• Partner with leadership to implement improvements to manufacturing costing processes

Manufacturing Cost Analysis

• Conduct complex cost analysis and audits

• Analyze and validate job costing standards, including annual and ad-hoc cost rolls

• Review Work Order processing (materials, labor, variances)

• Monitor WIP, outside process clearing accounts, and adjust as necessary

• Verify purchased parts cost, routers, overhead costs, and labor rates

• Analyze OEE performance and variance reporting

Financial Planning & Controls

• Lead Annual Budget and rolling Forecast (Hours, Headcount, Production expenses)

• Review Balance Sheet and P&L accounts; provide detailed variance explanations

• Support SOX compliance (WIP reconciliation, inventory reconciliation, SOD)

• Prepare ad-hoc operational analysis and reporting

• Support production leadership with financial insights and decision support

Top Required Skills

• Minimum 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment

• Strong manufacturing industry background (required)

• Advanced Excel skills

• Proven experience leading a project from start to finish

• Strong costing knowledge and ability to explain and persuade stakeholders on system/process changes

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Highly analytical and detail-oriented

• Stable work tenure (no frequent job changes)

• Experience with JDE ERP

• Hyperion and SmartView experience

• Strong understanding of job costing within ERP systems

• Experience partnering closely with plant leadership

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred

• Minimum 5 years of cost accounting experience

• Manufacturing environment experience required
