JAB Recruitment is actively seeking a Senior System Engineer / Sr. Technologist (Hybrid - Houston) – Contract To Hire to support one of our prestigious in global engineering and technology primarily serving the offshore oil and gas industry, with operations in defense, aerospace and renewables at their Houston, TX location. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a world-class team in a fast-paced, professional environment.

To be successful in this role you should have total of 15 years of experience, you will be involved in installation, configuration, and daily maintenance of identity management systems, server operating systems, server virtualization platforms, and other tools associated with infrastructure operations.  This role works independently with minimal supervision and will also contribute heavily on IT projects, as well as manage their own projects.

  • This is a contract position estimated 6 months with an opportunity for conversion based on performance
  • Hybrid role
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely without present or future need for visa sponsorship. No sponsorship available

Responsibilities / Experience
  • Azure Portal / M365 Administration (Azure, Entra, Exchange, Intune, OneDrive)
  • Automation and scripting using PowerShell and other tools like Orchestrator or Ansible
  • Identity Management and Domain Administration (AD, Entra, DNS, DHCP)
  • Windows Server Operating systems management on a global scale
  • Analyze system log files and determine appropriate courses of action
  • Handle escalations and troubleshoot issues at a Tier 3 level
  • Participate in on-call rotation and/or after-hours support
  • Assist communications, business systems, and desktop support groups with troubleshooting issues
  • Create support documentation and assist with training other members of the department          


Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, or equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of total IT experience
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience with Windows Active Directory
  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience with scripting and automation tools (Powershell, Ansible, Orchestrator, etc.)
  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience using system events, logs, and other tools for troubleshooting, trend analysis, and reporting
  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience with vSphere or Azure hypervisors in a large, multi-site environment
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience with data gathering and data structures (XML, JSON, YAML, WQL, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Messaging administration and Archiving (Exchange Online, On-prem SMTP, Mimecast)
  • Patch Management and Systems Monitoring experience (SCCM, Ivanti, SCOM, SolarWinds, Azure Arc)
  • Previous exposure to merger and/or acquisition activities
  • Technical certifications preferred
  • Travel may be required rarely
