Senior Structural Engineer - 9-Month PAYE Contract
JAB Recruitment is currently sourcing a Senior Structural Engineer on behalf of our Operator client based in Kingswells. This is a 9-month PAYE contract role, where the successful candidate will be responsible for providing structural engineering expertise, with a focus on decommissioning projects.
Role Overview
The Senior Structural Engineer will play a key role in ensuring that all decommissioning EPRD (Engineering, Preparation, Removal, and Disposal) scopes are executed safely, adhering to technical and engineering standards, while managing contractual and commercial aspects to minimize project risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice and approval on removal contractor’s methodologies.
- Review and assure structural integrity for onshore dismantling methodologies.
- Understand platform structural arrangement and condition to provide guidance, including attendance at Late Life Integrity Management Reviews.
- Work in compliance with Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental policies and quality assurance systems.
- Develop and manage the EPRD project technical assurance scheme, including independent analysis and third-party technical reviews.
- Serve as Originator and/or Checker of technical documentation, ensuring compliance with structural specifications, codes, and standards.
- Manage the review of EPRD contractor engineering deliverables and technical queries.
- Maintain proactive interface management with the EPRD contractor and regularly input to the Risk Register.
- Engage with removal contractor’s engineering teams through meetings, design reviews, and safety assessments.
- Provide technical advice to the Project Manager and/or Project Lead, and maintain alignment with the Structural Technical Authority.
- Offshore travel during preparation and removal activities.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Qualifications/Training

Essential:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in relevant engineering discipline or significant experience in a related role.
- Current Offshore Medical and Survival Certificate.

Preferred:
- Chartered Engineer status with an appropriate Engineering Council registered institution.
Experience/Knowledge/Skills
-
Essential:
- Extensive experience within the structural engineering discipline, particularly in brownfield engineering design, installation, and removal.
- In-depth knowledge of AISC American Design Code, British Standards, and Eurocodes.
- Understanding of key legislation and regulatory frameworks relevant to UKCS offshore operations.
- Experience with hazard identification, risk assessment, and structural integrity management.
- Knowledge of lifting operations and contractual awareness.
- Familiarity with management of change processes.

- Experience with Design Contractors and decommissioning projects.
- Familiarity with offshore installation removal and marine-specific codes.
Additional Skills/Requirements
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Competence in Microsoft Office and structural engineering tools such as STAAD Pro.
