A JAB Recruitment client is seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer to support pipeline system operations and capacity expansion initiatives across interstate gas and/or liquid pipeline assets. This role blends conceptual engineering, hydraulic modeling, and operational support, working closely with Operations Control, Field Operations, Marketing, and Project teams to ensure safe, reliable, and commercially optimized pipeline performance.
This is a highly collaborative, owner-operator–focused engineering role, ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of operations, system modeling, and capital planning.
Provide conceptual engineering design and scope development for facility and capacity expansion projects, including route selection, equipment sizing (pipe, compression, cooling, horsepower), preliminary cost estimates, and rate analysis.
Support projects through the full lifecycle, from concept and funding through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.
Review proposed projects to ensure operational practicality and system integration.
Develop, maintain, and interpret pipeline hydraulic and capacity models (e.g., WinFlow / NextGen).
Use steady-state and real-time transient modeling to support operational decision-making and predict system behavior.
Routinely assess system capacity utilization and identify optimization and enhancement opportunities.
Support Operations Control and Field Operations with operational troubleshooting, reliability analysis, and maintenance impact assessments.
Assist with work scheduling and operational procedures to minimize service impacts during maintenance and project activities.
Coordinate with Marketing and Scheduling teams on capacity transactions, contract optimization, and system updates within gas scheduling platforms (e.g., Connect).
Maintain system fuel, electric, and drag reducing agent (DRA) utilization models.
Provide engineering support for regulatory filings, audits, and proceedings.
Participate in service availability evaluations, advisories, and operational flow orders.
Act as a primary user and subject matter expert for pipeline scheduling and modeling systems, supporting ongoing system development and data integrity.
Communicate regularly with leadership on system status, project progress, risks, and opportunities.
Collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, commercial, and regulatory teams.
Uphold a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
Ability to manage and prioritize work in a fast-paced, operational environment.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Effective communicator capable of working across technical and non-technical teams.
Comfortable supporting after-hours or non-traditional work schedules as operational needs require.
Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Demonstrated proficiency with pipeline and compressor simulation software.
Prior experience supporting pipeline operations, gas control, or scheduling functions.
Background with owner-operators in the energy industry.
Understanding of capital project economics and operational trade-offs.
