Senior Key Account Manager

Role Overview

We are recruiting a Senior Key Account Manager to lead and develop a high-performing Key Account Management function within a training and workforce development environment.

This role carries day-to-day leadership responsibility for a team of Key Account Managers, alongside direct ownership of strategic, high-value B2B client accounts. The successful candidate will drive client satisfaction, retention, and revenue growth while delivering against annual sales targets and supporting wider commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance management for the Key Account Management team

  • Set individual sales targets aligned to annual business objectives

  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reviews

  • Motivate and develop team capability to deliver consistent commercial results

Strategic Account Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for key strategic B2B clients

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders

  • Develop and implement strategic account plans to support long-term growth

  • Understand client objectives and deliver tailored training and workforce solutions

Sales & Commercial Delivery

  • Deliver against annual sales and revenue targets

  • Identify and develop upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing accounts

  • Generate qualified leads for wider product and service offerings, working closely with internal specialists

  • Maintain accurate pipeline management and CRM reporting

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Working

  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership to deliver strategic initiatives

  • Work with marketing teams to support campaigns, promotional activity, and market engagement

  • Liaise with finance teams to support effective billing, cash collection, and receivables management

  • Provide regular performance updates, forecasts, and market insight to leadership

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience managing key account management or sales teams

  • Demonstrated success managing large, complex B2B client accounts

  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering sales growth

  • Experience operating within the energy, industrial, or training services sectors

  • Results-driven with a strong solution-oriented sales mindset

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

  • Confident engaging with senior-level decision makers

  • Strong negotiation and contract management capability

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and develop new growth opportunities

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and deadline discipline

  • Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating cross-functionally

Technical & Systems

  • Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office

  • Familiarity with training management systems or learning platforms is advantageous
