A JAB Recruitment client is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a contract role. The ideal candidate has experience with medium to high voltage power distribution systems.

**This contract assignment is estimated to be greater than 1 year, and has the potential to convert to permanent based on performance and business need.

The Electrical Engineer will act as a subject matter expert to support plan, design, implementation, and support of electrical systems for Clean Energy projects. This includes large scale Ammonia production, Hydrogen production, Electrolysis, and Carbon Capture and Sequestration facilities.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise in design reviews of electrical systems for capital projects.
  • Interface with other technical/engineering disciplines to ensure the effective integration of electrical systems with the overall project design.
  • Effectively plan, schedule, and provide support on multiple capital projects with various deadlines and responsibility levels involving new construction, mechanical integrity, emissions controls, etc.
  • Review and manage projects in terms of economics, OSHA Safety, Engineering Standards, Construction Standards, Operating and Maintenance Procedures.
  • Specify key electrical equipment such as medium and low voltage switchgear and motor control centers, transformers, VFD’s, UPS systems, DC systems, etc.
  • Provide owners engineering support related to purchase specifications, technical bid evaluations, vendor document review, and factory acceptance testing for electrical equipment.
  • Develop and/or update Company Electrical Equipment Specifications and Engineering Standards.
  • Effectively prioritize workload between several projects.
  • Interact internally and externally with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.
  • Maintain a high standard of ethical conduct in all work activity and company matters of every kind.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.

 

Minimum requirements:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering.

 

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • 10+ years of experience designing and validating large scale facility design.
  • Intermediate - Expert level proficiency in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

 

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong fundamental knowledge and experience in the design and electrical systems for large industrial facilities.
  • Familiarity and ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams, including flow charts, Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs), single line diagrams, electrical equipment schematics.
  • Medium and High voltage experience including equipment specification and sizing.
  • In depth knowledge of National Electric Code(NEC).
  • In depth knowledge of NFPA 70-E.
  • Effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including team members, project management, commercial, 3rd party EPC firms and other internal/external customers.
**The ideal candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
