• This is an ONSITE role 5 days per week in office.
• This is a CONTRACT role - estimated term12 months with the opportunity to convert to permanent based on performance, business need and internal approvals. 
• Office location is Greenway Plaza 77046

Our client, a well-established leader in the energy industry, is seeking Senior Buyers to join their Procurement team in Houston. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys partnering with engineering and project teams, and has a passion for strategic sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiations.

This is a long-term contract opportunity with a strong likelihood of transitioning into a permanent position based on performance and business needs.

 

What You'll Do

As a Senior Buyer, you'll play a critical role in supporting capital projects and operational procurement initiatives by:

• Developing and executing strategic sourcing and procurement plans
• Leading competitive sourcing events (RFPs, RFQs, RFAs)
• Negotiating commercial agreements and supplier contracts
• Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
• Developing category strategies to improve value, quality, and cost
• Monitoring supplier performance through KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives
• Partnering closely with Engineering, Operations, Legal, Project Management, and other internal stakeholders
• Providing market intelligence and commodity pricing trends to support business decisions
• Managing purchase commitments to ensure timely delivery of materials
• Supporting ERP purchasing processes and maintaining procurement documentation
• Identifying opportunities to improve procurement efficiency, cost savings, and supplier performance

 

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5+ years of procurement, strategic sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain experience
• Experience negotiating contracts and commercial agreements
• Strong background in supplier relationship management and category management
• Experience supporting engineering, industrial, manufacturing, EPC, energy, or capital project environments
• Knowledge of industrial materials, equipment, engineered products, or energy-related commodities
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Experience working within ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar preferred)
