Overview

JAB Recruitment is currently supporting the appointment of a Project Engineer to join a growing engineering and technology business delivering innovative solutions to the global energy sector.

This role offers the opportunity to work on specialist subsea and offshore equipment across IMR and decommissioning-related projects worldwide, within a collaborative and technically focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee new subsea tool builds and live engineering projects.

  • Complete technical and administrative activities as directed by the Engineering Manager.

  • Control project costs and ensure timely delivery against agreed milestones.

  • Produce engineering procedures, testing documentation, and bid/tender technical input.

  • Review engineering deliverables prepared by other team members.

  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to new tooling development.

  • Provide technical support during client tender processes.

  • Generate new designs and undertake verification activities, including FEA where required.

  • Act as offshore technical lead for cutting and related operational scopes.

  • Prepare, modify, test, diagnose, and repair specialist equipment in line with quality and certification standards.

  • Report incidents and non-conformances in accordance with company procedures.

  • Participate in safety, maintenance, and mobilisation/demobilisation planning meetings.

  • Support equipment demonstrations and client engagement activities when required.

Requirements

Essential

  • Experience in a similar engineering or project delivery role.

  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic engineering capability.

  • Proven problem-solving skills with practical, solution-focused thinking.

  • Flexibility for international travel, sometimes at short notice.

  • Confident communicator, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently and within multi-disciplinary or remote teams.

  • Strong IT skills, particularly MS Office.

  • Fluent English (written and spoken).

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks (or similar).

Desirable

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

  • Experience within the oil & gas or subsea sector.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and DNV standards.

  • Subsea tooling or specialist equipment experience.

  • Forklift licence (training can be provided).

  • Experience supporting decommissioning or wider energy projects.

  • Awareness of decommissioning legislation, engineering methods, and operational challenges.
