Job Description: Process Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and driven Process Engineer to support LNG facility operations through process design guidance, performance monitoring, system optimization, and engineering support for upgrades and expansions. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, a proactive safety mindset, and experience working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure operational excellence and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide operational guidance and technical recommendations related to process systems design, best practices, and process controls for LNG facilities.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and respond to performance deviations; investigate and address exceedances of safe operating limits (SOL).
Collect, analyze, and interpret process data to identify trends, inefficiencies, or risks, and recommend corrective actions.
Independently develop process simulations and steady-state models to support troubleshooting and system diagnostics.
Lead the development and execution of optimization strategies for LNG processes in alignment with annual company goals and objectives.
Support operations staff in troubleshooting process-related issues; mentor plant personnel in system understanding and problem-solving.
Design and implement process monitoring tools that assess efficiency, production performance, and recommend improvements.
Provide preliminary cost estimates and project schedules for capital investments and facility upgrades.
Manage and support the technical Management of Change (MOC) process for capital projects and operational improvements; ensure thorough review and closeout of MOC documentation.
Lead or participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) to ensure process safety and regulatory compliance.
Facilitate additional process safety reviews such as alarm management assessments and root cause analyses during incident investigations.
Collaborate with Commercial Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate process data is available to support business objectives.
Provide engineering support during commissioning, start-up, and operational ramp-up of new or modified process units.
Participate as a subject matter expert during internal or external audits and assessments.
Deliver technical training sessions for operations personnel, upon request.
Interface with contractor engineering leads during project design phases; provide technical direction to ensure process integrity in new LNG plant developments.
Conduct debottlenecking studies and lead operational readiness initiatives to maximize asset utilization.
Propose design enhancements and performance testing requirements to resolve process constraints and support long-term optimization.
Qualifications & Skills:
In-depth knowledge of process engineering principles, system operations, calculations, and materials.
Proficiency in process simulation software and engineering applications.
Strong understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Cause and Effect diagrams, process descriptions, and control narratives.
Proven ability to analyze complex systems, troubleshoot operational problems, and implement optimization strategies.
Experience facilitating or participating in PHAs, HAZOPs, PSSRs, and incident investigations.
Familiarity with industry regulations (e.g., OSHA, PSM) and best practices in LNG and hydrocarbon processing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to develop cost estimates and manage project schedules effectively.
Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, commercial, and regulatory personnel.
