The Principal Geophysicist will manage the setup, growth, and expansion of geophysics operations in the US Critical Minerals industry out of Phoenix, Arizona. This leadership role will actively engage in group marketing activities including client meetings, conference attendance, submission of technical papers, and technical presentations, with primary emphasis on the Critical Minerals industry and secondary emphasis on the infrastructure industry within the greater Rockies region.

The Company will provide relocation for this job opportunity.

The ideal candidate will reside or be willing to relocate to the greater Phoenix, Arizona area.


Job Responsibilities

  • Supports sales management (lead to tender) related to the USA Geophysics group with support of the Commercial Director and Land Geophysics Operations Manager – USA, with primary emphasis on the Critical Minerals industry (secondary emphasis on the infrastructure industry).

  • Promotes recent Company innovative developments, including screening activities within the Company’s GroundIQ® framework.

  • Supports bid/no-bids and project setup definitions for projects jointly in accordance with the Company authorization matrix and with support of the Commercial Director and Land Geophysics Operations Manager – USA.

  • Involved in key account planning for the Critical Minerals industry (and supporting the infrastructure industry), selection of accounts, account managers (CRM) assignment, and account plan development, execution, and review.

  • Responsible for project management (start-up to evaluation) for assigned geophysical projects with support of the Land Geophysics Operations Manager – USA and Project Management Office.

  • Responsible for collection of project receivables on managed projects past the due date.

  • Supporting roll-outs and product implementations defined by Global and Regional Business Lines.

  • Involved in relevant innovation processes related to the Critical Minerals industry.

  • Responsible for the acquisition, processing, interpretation, and reporting of geophysical data and deliverables, including client liaison on a project basis.

  • Familiar with and comfortable operating a wide range of geophysical survey equipment and plant.

  • Role may be part of a collaborative project team or may involve leading projects of medium to high complexity.

  • Planning and supervision of project geophysical operations comprising both Company and external personnel.

  • Project responsibilities include data QC and deliverables review as appropriate to area of expertise.

  • Provides technical input and review for proposals and tenders and makes recommendations for optimization and/or supplementary investigations where appropriate.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.

  • Minimum of 8+ years of relative geophysical experience within the critical minerals/mining sector and/or infrastructure industry; post-graduate experience required.

  • Minimum of 3 years in a managerial or leadership role preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Geophysics required; Master’s degree or higher preferred.

  • Registered Professional Geophysicist preferred.

  • Experience with Critical Minerals and infrastructure projects in the greater Rockies region required.

  • Effective client relationship management with a dedicated client base and proven ability to produce annual revenue.

  • Proven leadership experience in business development and business improvement processes.

  • Possession of a valid passport and current driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.

  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills, including a comprehensive understanding of engineering documentation and related legal terminology.

  • Ability to professionally present project materials in client meetings, including identifying and mitigating client concerns.

  • Ability to negotiate technical, commercial, legal, ethical, and abstract concepts with internal and external stakeholders at operational, management, and executive levels, as well as statutory authorities.

  • General knowledge of sales, pricing, and negotiation practices.

  • Commitment to staying current with professional practices, periodicals, and technological advancements.

  • Travel requirements up to 50%.
