The Offshore Wind Survey Party Chief is responsible for offshore surveying operations on the vessel, managing and leading the offshore survey team. The Survey Party Chief is also responsible for interfacing with the New Build team for the installation and commissioning of the survey equipment and related systems on GLDD?s Subsea Rock Installation Vessel (SRIV) which is under construction. This is a key position to support GLDD?s strategic entry into the burgeoning US offshore wind market and capture a tremendous growth opportunity as the world transitions to cleaner, carbon free sources of energy. The position will be part of the growing Offshore Wind group reporting to the Offshore Wind Engineering Manager during the vessel construction phase, then join the operations team when the time comes. The position is based at GLDD Headquarters, in Houston. Duties & Responsibilities: - You will interface with and support the New Build team for hardware and software integration of the survey system including all sensors and instruments. - You will supervise the installation and commissioning of the survey hardware and software on board the vessel and ensure it functions as designed. - You are responsible for the documentation including survey operations manual, survey procedures, and As-built documents. - You are responsible for the survey operations and the survey personnel on board. - You will maintain documentation to ensure the validity of the survey instrument's calibrations and make sure we comply with all offshore QA/QC standards. - You will oversee the survey as-built deliverables. - You will report to the superintendent, who's in charge of the daily operations of the vessel. - You will discuss with the client any survey related matters and ensure all data received from the client is checked on completeness. - First 2 years will be an in-office job; once Offshore Wind vessel is close to being finished, travel will be required (35%) - COVID-19 vaccination is required (fully vaccinated) Benefits: - Competitive salary - 401(k) program that includes 100% company matching of the first 6% of employee contributions with immediate vesting. - Annual profit-sharing contributions by the company to participants 401(k) accounts based on companys annual performance. - Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription, Life and Disability insurance plans. Skills: Qualifications: You are an experienced Survey Party Chief and successfully completed your education in Hydrographic Surveying or equivalent by experience. You have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience as Survey Party Chief responsible for the survey team and survey scope on an offshore scour protection/rock installation vessel, and you have experience with offshore navigation and positioning systems. You have experience with subsea acoustic positioning systems and multibeam. Needs to have exceptional communication skills; both verbal and written. Professional qualifications for this important position include: - Recognized higher education qualification (College Degree) in Surveying, Geomatics or relevant Earth or Marine Science preferred but no essential - Experience in Offshore marine/subsea survey is required; - Experience in Rock Installation operation and survey is a plus; - Excellent communications skills (verbal & written) for interfacing and developing requirements with suppliers of hardware/software - Experience building and leading a team Survey team - Travel as needed (35%) - COVID-19 vaccination is required (fully vaccinated) Training & Skills Required - Experienced in QINSy, Hypack, CADD, etc. (CURRENTLY USE QINSY, SO THAT IS PREFERRENCE) - Experienced with multibeam echo sounder - Experience in operating survey using ROV and/or vessel mounted equipment. - Candidate must be very familiar with standard Microsoft Office Suite Software such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
