NDT Level II UTSW Technician (Offshore – 28/28 rotation) – Gulf of Mexico
JAB Recruitment is actively seeking an NDT Level II UTSW Technician to support one of our prestigious in global engineering and technology primarily serving the offshore oil and gas industry, with operations in defense, aerospace and renewables. To be successful in this role you should have

  • Minimum 2 years of documented UT Shear Wave Level II experience (OJT logs signed off by a Level III)
  • 5 years total UT experience
PLEASE NOTE
  • This is a direct hire position
  • Offshore on a 28/28 rotation
  • Working 12 hour shifts, 7 days a week (total 84 hours/week) – guaranteed 44hours overtime a week
  • Completion of a competency exam (written and practical) as part of the process
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely without present or future need for visa sponsorship. No sponsorship available
Position Summary
The NDT Level II UTSW Technician performs ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), visual testing (VT), and other nondestructive testing (NDT) methods to inspect offshore and onshore piping, pressure vessels, and miscellaneous equipment. This role ensures all work complies with company policies, client requirements, and safety standards. The technician will also provide guidance and oversight to trainees and Level I personnel.
The NDT Technician will perform UTSW industrial inspections in both onshore and offshore environments. Work will involve inspecting piping, pipelines, pressure vessels, and various mechanical and structural components at client sites, industrial facilities, and offshore platforms. Travel to remote locations, including extended stays offshore, may be required based on project needs.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Perform NDT inspections, including UT, MT, PT, and VT, on offshore and onshore piping, pressure vessels, and equipment.
  • Analyze and interpret testing results to identify defects, anomalies, or structural issues.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports and documentation as per company and client standards.
  • Adhere to all company and client safety protocols and procedures, prioritizing health and safety in every aspect of the job.
  • Operate and maintain NDT equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability during inspections.
  • Provide direction, mentorship, and support to trainees and Level I personnel to enhance their technical competencies.
  • Communicate findings effectively with supervisors, clients, and team members.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, and specifications, including API, ASME, and AWS.
  • Assist with job planning, including equipment setup, calibration, and execution of inspection projects.
  • Plan the methods and determine the type of NDT equipment required to inspect the structure of materials.
  • Perform UT Shear Wave inspections primarily in the field.
  • Conduct tests in the NDT methods to the extent certified and qualified in.
  • Prepare, set-up and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Assist in training and supervising Level I RT trainees and other NDT trainees.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, paying special attention to health and safety policies.
  • Must be able to travel and work on a call-out basis, both domestic and international.
  • Must be able to work in harsh environments.
  • Performs additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support organizational objectives.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum two (2) years of documented UT Shear Wave Level II work experience.
  • Certified or be certifiable to ASNT-TC-1A, API-RP-2X per Level II UT followed with ASNT-TC-1A for MT, PT, VT.
  • Experience with ultrasonic thickness measurements (UTSW) in offshore and onshore environments.
  • Have general knowledge of other NDT methods, product manufacturing and inspection technologies used by the employer.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret NDT data accurately.
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities to guide trainees and Level I personnel.
  • Proficient in the use of NDT tools and technology.
  • Adaptable to dynamic work environments, including offshore platforms and industrial facilities.
  • Willingness to work offshore and onshore, including extended periods in remote locations.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental policies in industrial and offshore settings.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a TWIC card, valid Passport, Safe Gulf & HUET Water Survival.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
Desired
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Working Conditions
  • This position is considered OFFSHORE WORK which is characterized as follows. 
  • Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water.
  • Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • Frequently the humidity is above 90%, noise is over 85 decibels, and the light are intense/glare.
  • Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Work surface is stable, height is elevated.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
