We are seeking a Lead Structural Field Engineer to provide technical oversight and coordination of subcontractor activities related to structural steel and concrete work on a complex, multi-stakeholder construction project. This role ensures that all operations are executed safely, align with project schedules, and meet quality standards. The position requires close collaboration with subcontractor management, project engineers, and field supervision to drive efficient and compliant construction execution.
Supervise and coordinate subcontractor planning, safety, quality, and technical execution in the field.
Report to the Area Field Engineer/Project Field Engineer and serve as the technical authority for all structural steel-related work.
Provide technical direction to direct hire workforce and supervisory teams.
Develop and manage installation work packages for concrete and steel structures.
Oversee inspection of field installations and ensure completion of required documentation.
Perform and manage quantity take-offs, control, reporting, and forecasting for civil/structural scopes.
Review and interpret design drawings; resolve field design and constructability issues with the engineering office.
Support superintendents and subcontractors in addressing constructability, safety, and quality concerns.
Collaborate with vendors and procurement teams to ensure timely delivery and compliance of materials.
Coordinate material requisitions and review vendor documentation and drawings.
Conduct material receipt inspections and ensure proper on-site storage for environmental compliance.
Review and apply specifications, inspection reports, technical manuals, and delivery schedules.
Assist in preparation of construction estimates and recommend design or installation improvements to enhance safety and efficiency.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering preferred. Equivalent industry experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience: Minimum of 6–8 years of field engineering experience with a focus on civil/structural scopes in heavy industrial or infrastructure projects.
Experience with direct hire craft labor, preferably on company projects.
Strong knowledge of contract management and construction work processes.
Familiarity with company tools and systems such as ACONEX, TEAMWorks, PTR, eSub, and BSAPs.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and engineering-related applications.
Working knowledge of industry standards and codes (ACI, AISC, etc.).
Proven ability to communicate effectively and solve problems in a fast-paced field environment.
Background in mining and metals projects is a strong asset.
