The Inventory & Materials Control Specialist ensures compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in warehouse and inventory processes to support project needs. This role oversees the receipt, inspection, storage, issuance, and documentation of construction materials, ensuring that tools, equipment, and supplies are available to meet operational requirements. The Specialist maintains accurate records, coordinates corrective actions for discrepancies, and provides guidance to assigned personnel on proper material handling procedures.
Direct the physical count and inspection of arriving materials.
Review receiving documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, for completeness and accuracy.
Review Material Receiving Reports (MRRs) for accuracy and timeliness.
Audit BPS data for accuracy; generate reports and visual metrics.
Document unsatisfactory, overage, shortage, and damage (UOS&D) conditions and ensure timely corrective action.
Lead corrective action follow-up and prepare formal UOS&D reports for permanent record.
Ensure materials are stored per the project procurement storage plan, and storage locations are recorded accurately (manual or automated).
Dispose of surplus project materials per project management direction.
Prepare shipping documents and registers for materials shipped from job sites or temporary facilities.
Administer tool crib inventory, including data entry into the tool management system.
Oversee physical inventories to maintain valid, up-to-date records.
Participate in the project materials protection program in coordination with other project groups.
Maintain custody and control of project materials.
Provide guidance to Inventory Specialists and ensure proper issue control and documentation.
Develop jobsite instructions for work performance in assigned areas.
Deliver on-the-job training to assigned employees.
Maintain control registers for industrial gas bottles, returnable reels, and containers.
Prepare construction equipment inspection reports for rental equipment and maintain the construction equipment register.
Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 2–5 years of relevant experience, OR 6–9 years of relevant work experience without a degree.
Experience in construction material management, including shipping, receiving, storage, issuance, and documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and BPS or other material management systems.
Knowledge of Min-Max inventory controls, consignment materials, and managing on-site service contractors.
