In this role, you will integrate safety and health requirements into complex project planning, design, and operations to minimize potential risks and adverse impacts. You will conduct risk assessments, contribute to bid decisions, lead safety-related communications, and monitor performance trends. Your input will help enhance the quality and effectiveness of safety procedures and work processes.
Support the execution of the safety component of the Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) Program, covering both technical and administrative aspects.
Assist in preparing and implementing Safety and Health Management Plans, related procedures, and training programs.
Provide input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, Commissioning, and other teams to ensure safety and health requirements are integrated into project planning and execution.
Interpret safety and health requirements and offer comprehensive support in plan development, risk assessments, and ESH program implementation.
Research moderately complex issues, regulatory requirements, and best practices; prepare documentation, reports, and recommendations.
Support safety studies, risk assessments, audits, and program reviews.
Participate in emergency response activities, incident investigations, and the resolution of findings.
Interface with internal and external stakeholders, addressing and helping resolve safety concerns.
Participate in meetings with clients, team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Conduct ESH inspections and monitoring to identify hazards and risks, evaluate controls and corrective actions, and assess compliance with contractual, regulatory, project, and company requirements.
Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in occupational safety, health, or a related field, with 5–8 years of relevant experience; or
9–12 years of relevant work experience without a degree.
Specialized knowledge in a safety discipline (e.g., PPE, lockout/tagout, fall protection, excavation, People-Based Safety) or related engineering fields (e.g., civil, process safety, mechanical).
Strong understanding of safety management systems, monitoring programs, principles, and methodologies.
Familiarity with safety and health laws, regulations, and permitting processes.
Knowledge of engineering, construction, and subcontractor work processes.
Effective oral and written communication skills; proficient in common computer applications.
Bachelor of Science degree in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., safety, industrial engineering, public health, process/mechanical engineering) preferred.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
This role requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections, including but not limited to:
Extensive walking across construction sites in high heat and humidity.
Climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working on elevated platforms and uneven surfaces.
Entering small or confined spaces.
Occasional lifting.
Ability to enter and exit project sites safely.
Use of standard-issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as harnesses, life vests, or lift buckets, as required.
Willingness to work flexible schedules, including night shifts or split shifts, as needed.
