The ES&H Representative integrates environmental, safety, and health (ES&H) requirements into project planning, design, and execution to minimize risk and enhance operational safety. This role involves risk assessments, regulatory compliance monitoring, stakeholder communication, incident investigation support, and implementation of safety plans.
This position plays a critical role in maintaining the client's commitment to safety excellence.
Assist in executing the ES&H Program, including technical and administrative elements.
Prepare and help implement Safety and Health Management Plans, associated procedures, and training initiatives.
Support Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, and Commissioning teams by integrating ES&H requirements into project activities.
Interpret safety and health requirements, advise on plan development, risk assessments, and ES&H program execution.
Conduct research on regulatory requirements and prepare detailed documentation and reports.
Support and guide risk assessments, program audits, and safety studies.
Participate in emergency response activities and incident investigations.
Interface with stakeholders to address and resolve safety-related concerns.
Conduct regular ES&H inspections to identify hazards, assess control measures, and ensure compliance with project, regulatory, and client requirements.
Lead or participate in meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, and customers.
Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Occupational Safety, Health, Industrial Engineering, Public Health, Process/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, plus 5–8 years of relevant experience
OR
9–12 years of directly relevant work experience without a degree.
Specialized expertise in safety topics such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures, fall protection, excavation safety, or People-Based Safety.
Strong knowledge of safety management systems, monitoring programs, principles, and methodologies.
In-depth understanding of relevant safety and health laws, regulations, permitting processes, and agency responsibilities.
Familiarity with engineering, construction, and subcontractor work processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in common computer applications and software.
Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is required.
Must be a local hire or willing to relocate to the Rio Grande Valley area.
