The Opportunity
We are seeking an Accounting Manager to lead both accounting and wire transfer operations within a credit union environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and overseeing secure and compliant domestic and international wire transactions.
This is a leadership role with direct impact on financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Leadership & Financial Reporting
- Manage and supervise accounting staff, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Oversee general ledger activities, account reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Ensure accuracy of Call Reports and other regulatory filings (NCUA, Texas Credit Union Department)
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory examinations
- Prepare financial reports and analysis for senior leadership
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities
Wire Operations Oversight
- Supervise wire transfer operations (domestic and international)
- Ensure compliance with OFAC, BSA/AML, and fraud prevention protocols
- Review and approve high-value or complex wire transactions
- Establish procedures to ensure accuracy, security, and timeliness of wire activity
- Partner with operations and compliance teams to mitigate fraud risk
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with integrity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within a credit union or financial institution
- Experience with wire transfer operations and payment systems
- Knowledge of NCUA regulations and Call Report preparation
- Experience with accounting or core processing systems
