Job Title: Senior Design Drafter / CAD Designer
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, this role is responsible for developing engineering changes and detailed design drawings for complex equipment. The designer applies strong engineering principles and design judgment to solve technical challenges and produce innovative, functional solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and revise engineering drawings and documentation with minimal input, using CAD software to create accurate part models and assemblies.
Generate and manage product structures in Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
Interpret rough sketches or engineering concepts and translate them into complete design layouts and schematics.
Ensure the quality and accuracy of design documentation; review and check drawings produced by other team members.
Conduct tolerance studies to confirm proper functionality of equipment and components.
Integrate knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods, production processes, and maintenance requirements into design work.
Apply design best practices with a focus on reliability, safety (HSE), and quality.
Contribute to cost containment, efficiency, and operational effectiveness through thoughtful design decisions.
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or a related field, with at least 7 years of experience; or 9+ years of relevant design and drafting experience in lieu of a degree.
Expert-level proficiency in CAD modeling and drafting standards.
Strong understanding of mechanical tolerances and their application.
Experience with PDM systems and structured product data management.
Demonstrated ability to perform independent design work and problem-solving.
