Crushing Plant Operator

Position Summary:
The Crushing Plant Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining a crushing plant to prepare mine-run rock as feed for beneficiation plants. This includes starting, monitoring, and adjusting equipment, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring safe and efficient plant operations.


Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations

  • Start up crushers, conveyors, screens, and feeders from one or more control panels.

  • Monitor equipment performance and adjust material flow as needed.

  • Direct and distribute crushed product via stacking conveyors, chutes, and related equipment.

  • Perform clean-up of accumulated material leaks and spills.

  • Replace wear parts, screen cloths, and maintain walkways, stairs, guards, and control rooms.

Maintenance

  • Conduct routine and primary equipment maintenance as required.

  • Replace motors, pulleys, gearboxes, and crusher parts.

  • Splice conveyor belts, elevator chains, and related components.

  • Assist with troubleshooting and emergency repairs.

Other Duties

  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.


Physical Requirements

  • Perform heavy manual clean-up using shovels, picks, hoes, and brooms.

  • Lift, carry, and manipulate tools and equipment.

  • Operate jacks, ratchet wrenches, chain hoists, and come-alongs.

  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Occasionally work in confined or elevated spaces with limited access.

  • Climb inclines, slopes, bins, conveyor structures, and other elevated areas.

  • Work various shifts, including nights and graveyard rotations.


Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Responsibilities

  • Comply with all regulatory requirements and company safety procedures.

  • Perform duties safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.

  • Continuously inspect work areas for unsafe conditions or practices.

  • Take corrective or interim action when hazards are identified and report them to supervisors.

  • Participate in required HSE training, drills, and performance activities.

  • Report all incidents, near-misses, property damage, or hazardous conditions immediately.
