Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of a qualified trainer or supervisor, the Chemical Operator Trainee is responsible for learning and performing basic operational tasks to support the production and packaging of products created by mixing two or more raw materials. This is an entry-level role designed for individuals with strong mechanical aptitude who are eager to learn in a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Train to operate basic equipment such as:

  • Chemical hoses

  • Diaphragm, centrifugal, or positive displacement pumps

  • Agitators and manual valves

  • Learn and assist with:

  • Reviewing batch orders and verifying raw materials

  • Charging raw materials into the mixing equipment

  • Monitoring the mixing process

  • Finishing and packaging batches

  • Closing batch orders in the system

  • Understand and properly use plant utilities, including:

  • Compressed air

  • Steam

  • Cooling water

  • Nitrogen (N?)

  • Follow all site safety rules and procedures, including:

  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Hazard recognition and reporting

  • Reading and interpreting Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

  • Participating in emergency response procedures

  • Learn and apply safe work practices including:

  • Permit-to-work processes

  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures

  • Equipment isolation and energy control

  • Support team-based operations and contribute to a safe, clean, and organized work environment


    Qualifications:

    • Required:

    • High school diploma or GED

    • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more

    • Strong mechanical aptitude

    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

    • Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear

  • Preferred:

  • 2 years of vocational or technical training in a related field (chemical, mechanical, or industrial technology)

  • Previous exposure to manufacturing or chemical processing environments


    Work Environment:

    • Manufacturing and chemical production environment

    • Must be able to work around chemical processing equipment

    • Position requires wearing PPE including gloves, goggles, hard hats, and respirators as necessary

    • May involve standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods
