The Assembler is responsible for the assembly, rebuild, testing, and troubleshooting of pressure control equipment, including BOPs, valves, and choke systems. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading capability, and hands-on experience working with oilfield pressure control components.
The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of direct experience working with BOP equipment, valve assemblies, and choke systems in a shop environment.
Assemble and rebuild BOPs (ram & annular preventers), valves, and choke assemblies
Select proper tools, fixtures, and torque equipment
Perform tear-down, inspection, and reassembly of mechanical components
Set tolerances and dimensions according to blueprints and specifications
Test assembled products using appropriate pressure testing methods
Operate test pumps and related equipment
Troubleshoot mechanical and assembly-related issues
Identify and resolve non-conformance issues
Operate Hytork torque systems
Utilize impact wrenches and hand tools
Operate forklifts and overhead cranes (preferred certifications)
Maintain safe use of shop equipment
Create and complete labor records and material transactions in SAP
Ensure accurate documentation of assembly and testing activities
Support continuous improvement initiatives through the Manufacturing System
Follow HSE and safety procedures at all times
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Adhere to PPE and lifting requirements (up to 50 lbs)
High School Diploma or GED required
Minimum 5 years of experience in:
BOP assembly and rebuild
Valve and choke systems
Pressure control equipment
Experience using SAP
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
Technical degree or related training
Forklift and overhead crane certification
H2S certification
Prior oilfield OEM or service shop experience
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to stand for extended periods
Comfortable working in a manufacturing/shop environment
