API Inspector (Contract) – Broussard, Louisiana
JAB Recruitment is actively seeking an API Inspector to support one of our prestigious in global engineering and technology primarily serving the offshore oil and gas industry, with operations in defense, aerospace and renewables at their Broussard, Louisiana location. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a world-class team in a fast-paced, professional environment.

The API Inspector position will report to the Mechanical Integrity Engineer and will review inspection data files of pipelines, process piping, pressure vessels and tanks for facilities ensuring the mechanical integrity of the equipment is in compliance with the applicable governing design & inspection codes.
This position requires travel to client sites, manufacturing facilities, and offshore locations to perform inspections, support project needs, and deliver exceptional technical expertise. Travel will be mostly domestic with potential for some international travel.

  • This is a contract position - estimated 11 months with an opportunity for conversion based on performance
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US indefinitely without present or future need for visa sponsorship. No sponsorship available

Responsibilities
  • Perform internal and external inspections to determine if equipment meets the acceptance criteria of a specific code, standard or document.
  • Conduct inspections on equipment at scheduled intervals to maintain the mechanical integrity of the fixed equipment of the facility.
  • Properly interpret regulations, codes and industry standards.
  • Use a computer to compile and submit daily reports and inspection reports, as well as for inter-office communications.
  • Compile and submit completed inspection reports in a timely manner.
  • Pay attention to detail and be capable of recommending and approving repairs as well as performing visual inspection of completed work.
  • Study equipment leak regulations applicable to location and customer base.
  • Be proficient with standard computer software (such as MS Word and Excel) and be able to write detailed inspection and shutdown reports while maintaining an organized system of files.
  • Maintain a positive relationship between client, facility and customer; and promote a positive attitude towards coworkers
  • Performs additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support organizational objectives.

Minimum Requirements
  • Two (2) years’ experiences in Mechanical Equipment inspection activities.
  • Current American Petroleum Institute (API) API 510 and API-570 certification.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards including AWS, ASME, API (510, 570).
  • Capable of passing a Level 2 UT examination certification.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Current American Petroleum Institute (API) API-653
  • Working knowledge of NDE methodologies also a plus.
  • STI Tank Certification
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Basic computer knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel

Working Conditions
This position is considered ONSHORE / OFFSHORE WORK which is characterized as follows. 
  • Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water.
  • Occasional working within confined spaces.
  • Requires working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • Frequently the humidity is above 90%, noise is over 85 decibels and the light is intense/glare.
  • Potential exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Constant exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases. 
  • Work surface is stable, height is elevated.
