JAB Recruitment is sourcing for a Senior Tendering and Contracts Engineer on behalf of a leading global energy and steel solutions provider. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Aberdeen, within the Tubular Products Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the tendering and contract execution process for tubular-related steel products, with a focus on energy transition markets and compliance with company objectives.
Main Purpose of the Job
Manage the tendering and contract execution process for tubular-related steel products for the Aberdeen office, together with colleagues in the London office. This includes OCTG for oil & gas, geothermal, and carbon capture & storage market applications. Follow these tenders through to contract execution and delivery on successful contracts. This includes contract execution, document control, credit applications, liaison with corporate functions to ensure compliance with QHSSE rules, and ensuring payments are received on time.
Position within Organisation
Reports to the Department General Manager – Aberdeen Business Department.
Scope of Job
- Receive and manage the tendering process for energy steels business activity.
- Develop strategies to win project tenders, including price, cost, and supply chain selection.
- Conduct full contract reviews and manage the tender negotiation process.
- Secure project orders or follow up on losses and report back the reasoning.
- Deliver successful contracts, including project documentation, logistics management, and supply chain contract management.
- Close out contracts, ensuring they are concluded within budget, on time, and within contract requirements.
- Manage credit applications and payment schedules in accordance with company accounting practices, liaising with team members and corporate functions.
- Lead supply chain projects across multiple regions and suppliers.
- Deliver on business unit objectives with a focus on quality, HSE, and sustainability.
- Conduct tender tactics meetings, contract kick-offs, and pre-production meetings.
- Attend customer meetings as required.
- Some global travel may be required for internal and external meetings.
- Develop long-term supply chain strategy in collaboration with the Energy Transition Department.
- Explore third-party supply chain options.
- Handle pre-qualification processes as necessary.
- Perform company functions necessary to support duties and business development.

Qualifications/Skills/Personal Qualities
- Degree, MSc, or extensive experience in energy tendering and contract execution (essential).
- Project or contract management qualification (preferred).
- Able to communicate with and motivate individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Self-driven, methodical, and inquisitive.
- Results-oriented with a focus on high quality.
- Understands cost-effectiveness principles.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, and MS Teams, ideally to an intermediate level.
- Good working knowledge of SalesForce or similar CRM and CPQ software.
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel globally.
- Comfortable engaging with senior management both internally and externally.
- Flexible, adaptable, and creative.

Experience
Essential:
- Knowledge of the global steel industry.
- Experience working with integrated energy companies.
- Experience in client meetings.
- Experience working with people from different countries and cultures.
- Experience in tendering and contract management.
Preferred:
- Experience with major oilfield operators.
- Knowledge of offshore oil and gas industry.
- Knowledge of tubular supply chain.
- Knowledge of OCTG products.
- Understanding of XBAM, ETS, and decarbonization technologies.
Duties and Key Responsibilities

Tendering activity (40%): Develop tendering strategies to secure key projects that align with the business unit’s objectives. This includes considering the needs of integrated energy operators and emerging energy transition markets.

Execution of projects/contracts (40%): Lead the delivery and execution of successful tenders, working closely with suppliers and energy operators to ensure project success.

Compliance, Accounts Receivables, Credit Applications, Contract Amendments, QHSSE (10%): Oversee compliance checks, raise credit applications, expedite accounts receivables, and support contract amendment processes for long-term agreements held by the office.

Developing long-term supply chain strategy (10%): Contribute to the development of the business unit's long-term strategy, with a focus on delivering supply chain solutions that support the decarbonization of the European steel industry and the growth of new energy markets.
Any other ad-hoc duties as required by the Department General Manager.
